The Château de Jossigny is a perfect example of a maison de plaisance - or country house - popular in the 18th century. Jossigny has had a manor since the 1300s. In 1745, Claude François Le Conte des Graviers had the original manor demolished and commissioned the building of the present-day château on the same site, thus making use of the original foundations and vaulted cellars.
